Browser Tab Organization: Saved Sources and Note Graphs
Two tabs can point to the same URL, discuss a similar topic or link to each other. Those are different relationships. Tabzero’s source review and note graph help you inspect them so you can organize references without treating every connection as a duplicate.

Saved, duplicate and related sources are different
A new source has not been saved to the destination you are reviewing. An already-saved source is present in the relevant saved context. Duplicate detection compares URL identity; it does not decide that two articles have identical meaning.
Related sources are connected by clues such as an observed hyperlink, a shared URL path or title keywords. An introduction and a detailed reference may be related while both remain worth keeping. Review their role in your note before removing anything.
Tabzero keeps distinctions such as query parameters, fragments and HTTP versus HTTPS in its URL identity rules. This conservative approach avoids declaring different destinations identical, but it also means two URLs that look similar can remain separate. Do not assume the preview has compared the complete contents of both pages.
Read the evidence behind a connection
An observed link records a link seen on a page. It is useful evidence that one source points to another. It is not a complete index of every website linking to that source, and it does not guarantee that the destination is trustworthy.
A shared path can group pages from a documentation section, such as an introductory guide and its API reference. Matching title words can surface pages using the same terminology. Both are navigation clues rather than proof of agreement or semantic understanding.
For example, a tutorial may reference official documentation while a troubleshooting article shares the same product name. Keep the tutorial for the workflow, the reference for details and the troubleshooting page only if its issue applies to your project. Explain that distinction in your note.
Review tab sources before saving
Open Quick Card through the installed extension, select the relevant tabs and choose the destination note. Review new, saved and duplicate entries before applying the save. Restricted browser pages have limitations, and the source preview should be read in the context of the selected destination.
Use the related-source view to inspect why a pair was suggested. Selecting a pair does not merge their identities. Source rules can help repeat a browsing workflow, but broad URL-path rules deserve review so they do not gather unrelated pages.
The extension also supports overlapping-note review and explicit merge operations. Read the preview before merging and check whether undo is available for the current operation; it is not an unlimited history that can reverse any later edit.
Use the graph to move between notes and sources
The graph presents notes and source links as nodes. A line can represent note membership, a source relationship or a connection between notes, depending on the view. Check the node and relationship details instead of reading every line as the same kind of connection.
In the Web graph, selecting a note exposes an Open note action. Selecting a source exposes an Open source action. Related-note entries help you navigate to notes connected through shared sources or note links, including notes in other folders.
A force-directed layout positions connected items for exploration. Distance on the screen is not a relevance score, and a visually central node is not automatically the most reliable source. Use the graph to find context, then read the note or original page before making a decision.
A practical example: a learning project
Create one note for the concept you are learning and another for the small project where you will apply it. Save the introductory tutorial with your learning note. Save the reference and the project-specific examples with your implementation note.
If both notes use the same reference, that shared source can provide a useful connection. Add a note link when you want to record your own relationship explicitly. A folder groups the project’s notes, while the graph helps you find connections that cross folder boundaries.
When you return, open the implementation note and read the next step you wrote. Follow the shared reference if you need detail. This keeps the graph useful as a route through your material rather than another collection you must maintain for its own sake.
Limits and frequently asked questions
Is the graph powered by AI? The implemented relationships described here come from saved sources, observed links and explicit heuristics. They do not require an AI service. AI link suggestions and broader AI search are later explorations.
Does the graph archive the source? No. A source node holds a link and source information. Opening it returns you to the original website; a saved link does not preserve an offline copy of the page.
Can I rely on graph connections as citations? Keep the original source URL and read it before citing a claim. A connection helps navigation; it does not verify that a claim is supported. Tabzero remains in development preview, with browser and cross-surface validation still part of beta readiness.
